Assistant FL State Attorney Accused Of Child Porn Possession, Other Charges

An assistant FL state attorney from St. Petersburg faces multiple child pornography-related charges, the Pinellas County sheriff said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A Hillsborough County assistant state attorney was arrested Wednesday on child pornography-related charges, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release.

William Andrew Jones, 32, of St. Petersburg was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of transmission of child pornography and two counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor.

Detectives began investigating on July 30 after receiving information that child porn files were being accessed and shared online.

The files depicted girls between 6 and 10 years old engaging in sexual acts, investigators said.

Detectives interviewed Jones, who admitted to viewing and transmitting the files, on Wednesday.

He was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County.

Jones has worked with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office since 2021 as an assistant state attorney in the Felony Bureau, Trial Division E.
