TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County Property Appraiser’s Chief Information Officer Pat Alesandrini was ceremoniously sworn in as president of the International Association of Assessing Officers at the organization’s annual convention in Boston.

“Pat has been integral to the success we’ve had in our office over the past nine years,” said Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob “Coach” Henriquez. “He is viewed as one of the preeminent figures in the property assessment industry and we are so honored to have him as part of our office and serving in this esteemed position.”

“People asked me if I was excited or apprehensive about taking this position with the IAAO and I would say ‘yes’ to both. But most of all, I am honored to be able to serve and I look forward to the year ahead,” Alesandrini said. “This is a culmination of 42 years in the industry, and I consider it the pinnacle of my career. Coach Bob has played a big role in all of this by giving me the opportunity to serve as president of IAAO.”

Founded in 1934, the IAAO is a professional membership organization of government assessment officials and others with related interests in property assessments. The IAAO boasts more than 8,000 members and delivers educational, networking and membership opportunities, as well as publishes a largely circulated magazine called “Fair + Equitable.”

When asked what he most wants to accomplish during his tenure, Alesandrini said, “One of the most important parts will be a careful self-analysis of our industry in dealing with systemic bias and the creation of programs and procedures to reverse this issue, creating a more diverse and inclusive organization that better mirrors the public that we serve, and continue to provide world-class education and standards which are utilized across the globe.

“Other countries look to the IAAO for guidance in mass appraisal applications because of our reputation as the international leaders in this field," he said.

“With this role, Pat will be an incredible representative of our area at the international level, and to have him as part of our community should make all Hillsborough County residents proud," Henriquez said.
