Credit Card Skimmers Found On 7-Eleven ATMs: Tampa Police
Credit card skimming devices were found on ATMs at two 7-Eleven stores in Tampa, police said.
TAMPA, FL — Credit card skimmers were found Tuesday on ATMs at two Tampa 7-Eleven stores, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.
A maintenance worker found and reported to police a skimming device installed on an ATM at the store at 1930 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.
While investigating this incident, officers learned about another credit card skimmer at the 7-Eleven at 2717 W. Hillsborough Ave., police said.

Both incidents are being investigated and detectives encourage anyone who has used either of these ATMs recently to review their bank and/or credit card activity.
The department offers the following tips for people to protect themselves from credit card skimming:

- Regularly inspect ATMs before using them. Look for any signs of tampering, such as loose parts, misaligned card slots, or anything that appears to have been added or altered.
- Shield your PIN by covering the keypad with your hand while entering your code.
- Be wary of ATMs in unusual locations and avoid using ATMs in secluded or poorly lit areas.
- Monitor your bank and credit card accounts regularly and check your statements for any unauthorized charges.
- Report any suspicious activity to your bank or credit card company immediately.
- Update your PINs and passwords frequently.
- Consider using a credit card with fraud protection.
Those who have recently used either of these ATMs and believe they may have been a victim of credit card skimming are asked to call Tampa police at 813-231-6130 and to refer to report number 25-14095.
