- Weight loss company Jenny Craig is going out business and closing 25 locations in Florida, including in Tampa. Workers were told over e-mail the closure is due to an "inability to secure additional financing." (Lakeland Patch)
- Officials in Hillsborough County said a server at the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office has been "illegally breached." The officials said whoever access the network did not access voter registration system or the ballot tabulation system. Hillsborough County Elections Supervisor Craig Latimer said law enforcement was alerted of the breach and is now investigating. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
- Sapphire Lounge at the Floridan Hotel in downtown Tampa is being replaced by a new restaurant called The Dan. Floridan Hotel was recently acquired by Marriott. The restaurant will open on Saturday, May 20 to the public, according to the Times. The restaurant will focus on New Orleans cuisine and Gulf Coast dining with a focus on seafood and steak options. - A wanted 24-year-old Florida man has been arrested by police in relation to a Bradenton homicide. Sarasota police joined with U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was wanted on numerous warrants by police. (WFLA)
