Depression Closes Tampa Intersection 'Until Further Notice'

TAMPA, FL — Motorists who travel through the intersection of MacDill Avenue and Barcelona Street will need to find a different route until further notice.

According to the City of Tampa, a depression opened up in the roadway, forcing a closing of the intersection. Motorists, the city said, should try to find different routes if they normally use MacDill Avenue near Barcelona Street.

The city's wastewater department said a sewer mainline broke, causing a cave-in. The north and southbound lanes of MacDill at Barcelona will be "closed until further notice," an email from the wastewater department said.
