1. 13 Ugly Men of Tampa Bay are hosting their 2022 Derby Party on May 7 at 3 p.m. at Tabellas. Come dressed in your finest derby attire including a fascinator, hat, bow tie, and linens. The event will benefit The Glazer Children’s Museum. (That's So Tampa)
2. Tampa Police are investigating a shooting death at The Dawson Apartments, 15501 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa in which a woman said she shot a man who was trying to steal her car and run her over. The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. (Tampa Patch)
3. The 17th annual Sunscreen Film Festival kicks off today in downtown St. Petersburg and will run through Sunday. Guests can enjoy feature length films, panel workshops, foreign features, documentaries, and more. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
4. The Safety Harbor Marina Fountain was "heavily" vandalized sometime between 7 a.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday, according to a Facebook post. City staff are now searching for who may be responsible for the crime. (WTSP)
5. The Collier County Sheriff's Office said music teacher Diego Alberto Rojas-Pulido, 37, attempted suicide after he was questioned about a video recording device found at a bathroom in Pinecrest Elementary School in Immokalee. Rojas-Pulido faces a charge of video voyeurism (offender 24 or older and victim under 16), a second-degree felony. (WFLA)
