- Tampa's new Green Team is pumped for Earth Day on Saturday, April 22. The new program is funded by AmeriCorps in partnership with Volunteer Florida. Twenty AmeriCorps members will contribute a minimum of 900 hours in July 2023 to helping the environment locally. There will be numerous events to help make a difference this weekend. (Tampa Patch)
- Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating at a shooting at a Tampa nursing center on Thursday. Authorities said the incident happened at The Bristol at Tampa Rehabilitation & Nursing Center located at 1818 E. Fletcher Ave. Police said the incident was a fight between two employees at the center. (WFLA)
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one week away from the NFL draft and currently reviewing options available going forward. The Bucs hold the 19th overall pick in the draft. Analysts are predicting how the Bucs might rebuild their team for the new season. (ABC Action News)
- Two-month-old Catahoula leopard mixed puppies Lily and Lando are looking for a home. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay seeks an adopter who has experience with deaf or blind dogs that will take care of these pups. The dogs are a cautionary tale about breeding with their condition caused by irresponsible breeding practices. (Tampa Patch)
- New World Brewery is celebrating its 28th anniversary this weekend with plenty of live music acts to enjoy as well as an Earth Day concert. New World Brewery regularly hosts indie music acts and has a biergarten and pizza for locals to enjoy. Acts booked for this weekend include Will Quinlan, Michael Starks’ Quaint Delusions, and Andy & The Argonauts, according to CL Tampa. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

- A new report by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies says home remodeling is booming in Tampa. Analysts said increased interest rates are partially responsible for the growth. The increase in remodeling is also impacting and growing the home equity loan market as well. (Bay News 9)
- The Tampa Bay Ferries Alliance was launched on Wednesday to advocate for year-round ferry service. The alliance is not affiliated with Cross Bay Ferry and wants to utilize ferry services to reduce traffic congestion in the region. (ABC Action News)
- A continuous affordable housing crisis and rising costs due to inflation are putting pressure on Tampa's food banks. Locals who want to help can donate goods to Feeding Tampa Bay to help make a difference. (WTSP, WUSF)
- Hillsborough County Public Schools shared: "Vote and Share for Strawberry Crest High School. Strawberry Crest is a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow National Finalist. These amazing students developed an athletic heart monitoring device that will alert a coach of a potential cardiac arrest while athletes are training in our summer heat.
