Stranded Family Rescued Near FL River After Boat Runs Aground
A family of four was stranded near the Alafia River Saturday night after their boat ran aground, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A family of four was rescued Saturday night after their boat ran aground near the Alafia River, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post. (Watch a deputy-worn bodycam video of the rescue below.)
Deputies responded to a call for help south of Sunken and Bird islands around 9:15 p.m.
A deputy was able to get their boat free and ensured everyone was okay.

"We're always ready to respond on the water when someone needs our help," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I'm glad we could assist this family stuck on the water at night and see that they could safely return to shore."
