FL Detention Deputy Charged With Assault After Dispute With Neighbor
The 55-year-old veteran Hillsborough detention deputy is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said Wednesday.
BRANDON, FL — A Hillsborough County detention deputy is facing charges after being accused of engaging in an altercation with his neighbor at a Blueberry Lane, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputies responded around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Brandon home, where police said they arrested 55-year-old Cory Faircloth. Police did not detail the nature of the altercation.
Faircloth was charged on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of dwelling with assault of battery, police said.

"I am deeply disappointed and troubled by the actions of one of our detention deputies," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We hold all of our deputies to the highest standards of professionalism and respect for all individuals, and any deviation from these principles is unacceptable."
Faircloth, who has been a detention deputy with the sheriff's office since 1997, is on unpaid administrative leave, authorities said.

Hillsborough County Jail records show Faircloth remained incarcerated Wednesday.
