This FL Spot Serves Up Some Of America's Best Cheap Eats: New Ranking

FLORIDA — The best cheap eats in Florida are found at Pummarola in Miami Beach, according to a new analysis of budget eateries in 500 U.S. cities.

The Best Spot for Cheap Eats in Every State considers both menu pricing and Yelp customer reviews, was compiled by online lender CashNetUSA.

Overall, customers gave Pummarola Pizzeria Napoletana 4.95 stars on a 5.0 scale.

There are six Pummarola pizzeria locations in South Florida, including restaurants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Gables, and Boca Raton. Diners can try margherita or spicy salami pizzas, as well as eggplant parmigiana.

Founder Rosa Donna Rummo said the tiny red Fiat 500 she drove through Naples, Italy was called a "pummarola,” which means "tomato" in the Neapolitan dialect. She wanted to share her love of cooking beyond her family and friends. So, she founded Pummarola in 1968, a few blocks from her home in Naples, Italy, where it operated for 20 years.

Over 40 years after Rosa’s original Pummarola was founded in Italy, her four grandchildren decided to reopen Pummarola across the world.
