Flooding Closes Hillsborough County Roads
Heavy rain has caused flooding along some streets in Hillsborough County, prompting warnings for motorists.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to take care on area roads as heavy rains pummel the area.
“Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding in some areas of the county,” the sheriff’s office warned in a Wednesday morning email.
Motorists are urged to turn around and never drive through areas that are flooded. Deputies are also asking motorists to be on the lookout for any downed trees or powerlines.

As of 11:30 a.m.. June 7, the county reported the following road closings:
- Manhattan Avenue, south of Sligh Avenue
- Hesperides Street, south of Sligh Avenue
- Galvind Road, blocked at Pittman Road due to a downed tree
- Camden Street, north of Waters Avenue and South of Humphrey Street is closed due to flooding
- Southbound Providence Run Boulevard, south of Lakehurst Way is blocked due to a downed tree
The National Weather Service anticipates strong thunderstorm chances will linger in the Tampa Bay area through the next few days. Forecasters have warned about the potential for localized flooding. Sunday is hoped to bring a return to a more normal summertime pattern of afternoon thunderstorms.
