Florida Minimum Wage Rising In 2018 By 15 Cents

Employees who receive tips in the service industry also will get a 15 cent increase to $5.23 per hour.

Beginning today, the minimum wage is going up to $8.25 per hour in Florida, rising 15 cents. Under Florida law, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity calculates an increase in the minimum wage each year based on the percentage increase in the federal Consumer Price Index. The process of increasing the minimum wage was approved by voters in 2004.

Employees who receive tips in the service industry also will get a 15 cent increase to $5.23 per hour.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25. Washington, D.C currently has the highest minimum wage in the U.S. at $11.50 per hour. San Francisco will have the highest minimum wage in 2018 at $15 per hour.
