Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:
1. A Tampa Bay man and founder of Village of Hope is helping rescue orphaned children from Ukraine. Marvin Lane of Palmetto has helped more than 100 children get support at Village of Hope in Romania. Support has poured in from around the nation after coverage of Lane's efforts. (ABC Action News)
2. A Clearwater man has been charged with murdering his own mother in what police say was a year-long plot on Saturday. Logan Lopez, 24, allegedly beat his mother with a hammer and stabbed her multiple times. Lopez has been charged with first degree murder. (WFLA)
3. Kristopher J. Chandler, 22, has been arrested and charged with murder for killing a man in his 40s and leaving his body at a lakeside dock within a gated community. Detectives say Chandler admitted to being at the scene of the crime and shooting the victim. (Fox 13)
4. The Rays beat the Orioles 7-5 on Sunday. It wasn't all good news though. Harold Ramirez, one of the Rays' best hitters, broke his right thumb when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning and will now take a leave of absence. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times, Free: ESPN)
5. Former NFL player Orson Reuben Charles is facing multiple charges after Tampa police said he pulled a gun on off-duty police officers after a dispute over a parking spot in Ybor City on Friday night. Police were called to the intersection of 19th Street and 8th Avenue at 11:55 p.m. (Tampa Patch)

- Hundreds of activists gathered in downtown Tampa to protest the first Moms for Liberty national summit on Saturday. The weekend-long event has brought national attention to Tampa with speakers including Governor Ron DeSantis present. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
- The Florida Holocaust Museum and community is mourning the loss of Holocaust survivor Alice "Lisl" Schick. Lisl taught the lessons of the Holocaust to thousands of individuals, in the hopes of creating a better world. (Tampa Bay Newswire)
- The Watson Clinic Foundation's Arts in Medicine (AIM) program is launching a series of educational and creative workshops that empower breast cancer survivors to reconnect with their community and their sense of self.
