Former NFL Player Ensures Firefighters Have Hearty Thanksgiving Meal

For the fifth year, the Mike Alstott Family Foundation will serve up Thanksgiving dinners at all 46 Hillsborough fire stations.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — For the fifth year in Hillsborough County, the Mike Alstott Family Foundation will be making a difference in the kitchens of all 46 Hillsborough County Fire Rescue stations with donated Thanksgiving dinner groceries that firefighters can use to prepare a feast for themselves at the firehouse.

Firefighters working a shift on a holiday spend the day away from their families, so the crews often celebrate holidays together with their fire family. These meals are made even more special when the fire crew does not have to go out and shop for the Thanksgiving meals because of the Alstott Family Foundation’s generosity.

Alstott, a former star running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a Ring of Honor inductee at Raymond James Stadium, will be on hand to deliver, organize and distribute the groceries to fire crews on Wednesday.

Each year, the foundation brings all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast, including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy and cheesecake. The foundation also is adding coffee for the first time to this year’s grocery haul for each fire station.

Alstott also provides meals to firefighters in Pinellas County.
