UPDATE: Kennedy Blvd. Reopened After Gas Leak
The closure happening during the morning commute for many drivers could mean a major traffic delay.

This morning at 8:28 a.m., Tampa Fire Rescue personel responded to the area of Kennedy Blvd. and Brevard Ave. after receiving a report of a gas leak. Once they arrived, they found a gas line damaged from construction taking place at that location, according to a release from Tampa Fire Rescue.
As they were working to stop the leak, personel say they also noticed that a nearby car was parked and blocking a fire hydrant. The owner of the vehicle was found and "was very remorseful and grateful nobody was hurt," according to the release.
All roads in the area are no reopened and no one was injured, the release said.

Tampa Fire Rescue is reporting that a there is a gas leak at 606 Kennedy Blvd. Because of the leak, the eastbound lanes of Kennedy are closed between Hyde Park Boulevard and Boulevard.
There is no estimate on how long the lanes will be closed.
