Gun, Knife Found On Blake High Students

Tampa Police say two Blake High students came to school packing weapons Wednesday.

TAMPA, FL — Two Blake High School students face criminal charges after Tampa Police say officers found a gun in one student’s possession and a knife on the other.

The incident that led to the arrests began to unfold shortly after 11 a.m. April 12 at the 1701 North Boulevard school. Police say the two 17-year-old boys got into a fight that was broken up by an assistant principle. The teens, whose names are not being released by Patch, were taken to the office.

“The school resource officer met them in the office and upon search, one was found to have a gun, the other had a knife,” an email from the police department said. The weapons, police noted, were not used in the fight nor were they displayed.

Blake was placed on lock-out status for a short period of time during the altercation.

One teen faces possession of a firearm on school grounds, theft of a firearm and violation of probation charges. The other teen has been charged with possession of a knife on school grounds.
