Heat, Humidity Will Make It Feel Like 100+ Degrees Wednesday, Thursday In FL

With heath and humidity combining to make it feel like 112 degrees across much of Florida on Wednesday, heat advisories have been issued.

FLORIDA — The National Weather Service and the Florida Division of Emergency Management have issued heat advisories, with heat index values expected to reach 110 to 112 degrees Wednesday.

The advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m. and runs through 7 p.m.

This includes southwest, west-central and northeast Florida as well as the Florida Panhandle.

Dangerously hot and humid conditions can be expected across the state, especially across the Florida Peninsula, according to emergency management.

High temperatures will climb into the low to middle 90s, with central Florida seeing high temperatures in the upper 90s.

The heat index will reach triple digits (100 to 110 degrees) in the late morning and continue through the early evening.

Heat advisories extend throughout the Florida Peninsula, where the heat index is expected to reach 105 to 110 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. Portions of northeast and east-central Florida can expect a heat index of 112 degrees. Isolated areas across the state could see locally a higher heat index during the peak heating hours of the day.

Remember to:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take breaks from the heat.
  • Wear light clothing when outdoors.
  • Never leave children or pets in a vehicle.
  • Know the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms between 9am and 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 107. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
