Hillsborough County Deputy Charged With DUI In Manatee County: Sheriff

A Hillsborough County detention deputy charged with DUI refused to provide a breath sample during her arrest, the sheriff said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A Hillsborough County detention deputy was arrested for driving under the influence Saturday night in Manatee County, authorities said.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about a possible intoxicated driver operating a silver Toyota Tacoma in the area of 1200 Upper Manatee River Road around 8:30 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies later found the pickup truck improperly parked at Brixley Apartments, which is at 1100 Upper Manatee River Road.

Shannon McBride, 60, was in the driver’s seat “and showed clear signs of impairment,” the sheriff’s office said.

She refused to provide a breath sample after being taken into custody and was booked into Manatee County Jail. She was charged with driving under the influence.

McBride, who has worked for HCSO for seven years, was assigned to a housing unit at the Orient Road Jail.

She is currently on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation, HCSO said.
