Historic Tampa Union Station to Celebrate National Train Day

The May 11 event will include train exhibits, model railroads, food trucks and music.

Lovers of all things related to trains will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, May 11 when the Friends of Tampa Union Station celebrate National Train Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The day not only commemorates the 144th anniversary of driving the "golden spike" marking the completion of the transcontinental railroad but it's also the 15th anniversary of Tampa Union Station's restoration.

The free event at the historic Tampa Union Station at 601 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, will include displays and exhibits by Amtrak, the Florida Railroad Museum, the Tampa Firefighters Museum, the Tampa Bay History Center and the Atlantic Coast Line & Seaboard Air Line Railroads Historical Society.
