Memorial Day weekend events in the Tampa Bay area include Clearwater Honor Fest, ceremonies, flag placement at the national cemetery.
TAMPA BAY, FL — If you’re looking for a way to honor fallen heroes in the greater Tampa Bay area this Memorial Day weekend, here are some of the events planned throughout the community:
Memorial Day Observance Flag Placement
When: Sunday, 8:30 a.m.
Where: Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg
Flags will be placed on the graves at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
Hillsborough County Memorial Day Observance
When: Sunday, 10 a.m.
Where: Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins, Jr. Veterans Museum, Tampa
The event features the annual "Garden of Gold" pictorial flags honoring local Gold Star Family members, guest speakers, a rifle salute and “Taps.”
When: Sunday, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Florida Veterans Memorial Plaza, 450 South Lake Drive, Clearwater
The event includes speakers, a presentation of the colors, a candlelight vigil and performances.
When: Monday, 9 to 10 a.m.
Where: Military Court of Honor, Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive
The ceremony will include a color guard presentation, live music, a wreath presentation in remembrance of our fallen soldiers and keynote presentations from local Largo veterans.
American Legion Cemetery Memorial Day Observance
When: Monday, 11 a.m.
Where: American Legion Post 5 Cemetery, 3810 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa
There will be guest speakers, a presentation of the colors, a wreath presentation and more.
When: Monday, 11 a.m.
Where: MacDill Park, 100 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa
The event will take place at the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument.
Bay Pines VA Memorial Day Ceremony
When: Monday, 11 a.m. to noon
Where: Bay Pines VA, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg
This ceremony will take place at Veterans Courtyard Building 37.
When: Monday, 11:30 a.m.
Where: American Legion Post 238, Safety Harbor
Lunch will be provided after the ceremony.
Gulfport Memorial Day Commemoration
When: Monday, 2:30 p.m.
Where: Veterans Park, Gulfport
This gathering pays tribute to the men and women who died serving our country.
