How Florida Universities Rank Among Best In The World

TAMPA, FL - The University of Florida ranked in the top 100 of a new U.S. News & World Report list designating the best global universities. The United States leads the way with some of the best higher education institutions in the world, claiming the top four spots on the list.

UF ranked No. 95 on the list followed by these Florida schools: Miami at No. 171; Florida State University at 190; the University of South Florida at No. 286; Florida International at No. 410; University of Central Florida at 509 and Florida Atlantic University at 910.

The top spots on the list go to universities in Massachusetts. Harvard ranks as the best global university and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology takes the No. 2 spot.

The rankings evaluated 1,250 universities on the list across 74 countries and 221 American universities made the list. To come up with the rankings, U.S. News first created a pool of universities using various sources, including a global reputation survey. The rankings were then calculated using 13 indicators and weights that U.S. News chose to measure global research performance. (You can see the full methodology here.)
