Hundreds Of Child Porn Pics Lead To Man's Arrest

A Wednesday warrant search of a 60-year-old Tampa man's home turned up "hundreds of images of child pornography," police say.

TAMPA, FL — A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received by Tampa Police back in February led to a 60-year-old man’s arrest on Wednesday after authorities allegedly found “hundreds of images of child pornography” during a warrant search.

According to the police department, the initial cyber tip came in on Feb. 20, prompting the start of an investigation into potential illegal activities originating from a home in the 900 block of West Henry Avenue. After collecting enough information to obtain a search warrant, detectives from the agency’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit paid that home and resident Daniel W. Sutton a visit around 12:44 p.m. April 19.

Sutton, an email from the agency said, was “at home on his computer during the search warrant.” Detectives seized the computer Sutton was using when they arrived and “located hundreds of images and videos of child pornography,” the email said.

As of Wednesday, Sutton was charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography. Each count is a second-degree felony because of the amount of content found, the agency’s email said. The investigation remains active.
