Masked Shooters Fired At SUVs On FL Highway, Suspects Sought

On May 11, suspects in a dark-colored car shot at two SUVs near I-4 in Tampa, chasing those in one of the SUVs by foot, FL troopers said.

TAMPA, FL — Investigators are looking for the suspects in a shooting that happened earlier this month on Interstate 4, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The suspects shot at two SUVs on the highway.

A dark-colored car pulled up alongside the first SUV on I-4 the morning of May 11 around 6:30 a.m. near U.S. 301. Those inside fired at the other vehicl.

The car then drove up behind a second SUV, which exited onto U.S. 301, and those in the car fired at that vehicle as well, troopers said.

Those in that SUV ran from it after the crash as masked gunmen from the suspect car chased them on foot, FHP said. They were able to get away from the shooters and only suffered minor injuries from the crash.

Evidence from the scene shows that both SUVs were hit by gunfire. There were no injuries from the shooting.

Nothing else is known about the shooters or their car, FHP said.
