In Idalia's Wake, Tampa Fire Rescue Battles Fire At Concrete Warehouse

Firefighters waded through floodwaters from Hurricane Idalia at Morton and Ingraham streets to put out the concrete warehouse fire.

TAMPA, FL — Just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Tampa Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the 5300 block of West Ingraham Street for a fire at a concrete construction supply warehouse.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story commercial facility with heavy smoke and fire emanating from the roof and rear of the building.

Wading through floodwaters from Hurricane Idalia at the intersection of Ingraham and South Morton streets, firefighters deployed hose lines to put out the fire and entered the building to battle flames from the interior.

As firefighters were inside the building, the situated rapidly deteriorated and the stability of the roof and rear portion of the building became compromised.

Firefighters evacuated the building, and began to attack the fire defensively using multiple hoses and aerial ladder truck.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no civilians or firefighters were injured.

The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. Tampa fire marshal investigators are investigating the cause.
