Last Day for Tampa’s Spaghetti Warehouse Coming Soon

TAMPA, FL – Tampa Bay area residents who love the Spaghetti Warehouse better hurry if they want to enjoy a heaping plate of pasta before it’s gone. The company that owns the iconic eatery that has served the area for more than 30 years has announced its last day is coming soon.

“Today we have made the difficult business decision to announce the permanent closure of the Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant in Tampa, Florida,” Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. wrote in a Monday media release.

The company intends to waste no time in closing the doors. The last full day of service is Sunday, Oct. 2.

Back in March, the company announced plans to close the 1911 13th St. location for good. An outcry of support, however, prompted a change of heart with the company later announcing its intention to seek out a new location in the Tampa Bay area.

“Our management team was so moved by the overwhelming response and tremendous support we’ve received from the community that we made a last-minute decision to stay open,” Doug Pak, president and CEO of BLD Brands, the parent company that owns Spaghetti Warehouse, said in a March media release. “Our guests gave us a renewed reason why we should exist and there is a meaning and purpose in what we are doing.”

Fast-forward to September, however, and the company now says every effort to stay open was made.

“Because of the overwhelming response and support we received from the community, we made an emotional decision to continue serving our guests with the hope we could experience a turnaround and find a replacement location,” Monday’s release said. “However, these events did not happen for us and the decision we have made, at this time, is to proceed with closing this location.”

Just because Sunday is the last day for Ybor City, doesn’t mean Spaghetti Warehouse won't make a return at some point.

“We remain hopeful to open another location in the Tampa market in the future,” the press release noted.
