Lennard High Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student: Deputies
Hillsborough deputies arrested Caroline Lawson, 29, early Friday morning at her home in Tampa.

RUSKIN, FL - A Lennard High School teacher was arrested Friday on charges of having sex with a 17-year-old student. Deputies arrested Caroline Lawson, 29, early Friday morning at her home in Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Lawson was arrested on two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail with bond set at $30,000.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1 about 5 p.m., the student went to Lawson's residence in Hillsborough County. While at the residence, the student and Lawson engaged in consensual sexual activity. Later that evening, Lawson sent a series of text messages to someone describing part of what occurred. Deputies met with the student who provided a detailed account of their sexual encounter and verbally identified Lawson as a teacher at Lennard High School in Ruskin.
Lawson's text read: "I cheated on jameson... with a student", according to an arrest affidavit. The person Lawson was texting asked if she meant she slept with the student. Lawson replied "yes."

Lawson was a high school English teacher, hired by the district in 2014.
Hillsborough County Public Schools issued a statement: “We are deeply disappointed by these charges. The safety of our students is our top priority. We are working with law enforcement as they investigate. This employee has resigned her position with the district.”
