Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:

1. The Colorado Avalanche ended the Tampa Bay Lightning's rule and run for the Stanley Cup with a 2-1 victory in Game 6 on Sunday night at the Amalie Arena. The game was hard fought, but the Bolts ultimately came up short. (Yahoo! Sports)

2. Tampa Tarpons pitcher Chandler Champlain also doubles as a DJ, living out two passions. Champlain was recently added to the list of Yankees' top 30 prospects in his first full professional season and still has a goal of playing in the big leagues someday. (Fox 13)

3. Tampa’s Fringe Festival is set to celebrate its 6th anniversary with nearly 100 shows from 23 companies and a new and improved Kids Fringe. This year's theme is "Peace. Love. Fringe!" The festival will run from July 28 to August 7 at the Hillsborough Community College Performing Arts Center in Ybor City. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

4. Tampa Police Department's no-questions-asked gun buyback event collected 1,000 weapons in just four hours. The event was underwritten by a $100,000 from anonymous community members who donated following the mass shooting at a Uvalde, Texas elementary school last month. 5. Gas prices in the Tampa area fell 26 cents from the all-time high in mid-June, according to data from Gasbuddy. On June 12, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline was $4.89. on June 26, the price was $4.63. The fall is faster than the national average. (WFLA)
