The investigation remained ongoing and in April 2024, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed that the controlled substances collected in the case tested positive for fentanyl.
Detectives presented the findings to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, which approved a charge of first-degree murder resulting from the delivery of a controlled substance charge.
The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force found and arrested Harris in Tampa on Tuesday. He was taken into custody without incident.
“This arrest is a reminder that drug dealers who poison our communities with deadly substances will be held accountable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “This was not just a drug deal. It was a deadly transaction that cost a young man his life. We remain committed to pursuing justice for every victim and their loved ones.”
