FL Man, Shot, Killed Passenger In Vehicle With Child, Woman Looking On
The passenger in a car was fatally shot at an intersection in Tampa on Friday afternoon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
TAMPA, FL — A man was charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting another man who was a passenger in a car on Friday afternoon, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Progress Boulevard and South 82nd Street in Tampa.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 4:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found Terrel Ferrell, 24, with a gunshot wound to his upper body, the sheriff’s office said.

He had been riding as a passenger in a vehicle with a woman who was driving and a child in the backseat.

Detectives learned that the driver briefly stopped to speak with the suspect, who opened fire, the sheriff’s office said.
While trying to escape the shooting, the driver sped off and accidentally hit a motorized bicyclist, who suffered minor injuries .
She continued driving to a nearby Thorntons gas station to get help.
Ferrell was brought to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators identified the shooter as 24-year-old Dayjon Clarke.
Detectives found him at a home on Logarto Circle West in Lutz on Monday. He was arrested and charged with murder in the first degree premeditated firearm — great bodily harm/death, shooting at within or into a vehicle, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
“This violent act stole a young man’s life and put innocent lives in jeopardy — including a child,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Let this serve as a message: if you commit a violent crime in our community, we will find you, and you will face justice.”
