A Manatee County man was arrested for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from her Ruskin home, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

RUSKIN, FL — An arrest warrant has been obtained for a man who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to a home in the 1900 block of 33rd Street Southeast in Ruskin about a possible kidnapping.

Investigators learned the suspect, Julian Jaramillo, 21, used a tracking device in the victim’s vehicle to track her to the home, the sheriff’s office said.

Jaramillo forcibly stole the victim's keys when she came out of home, and then forced her into the trunk of her vehicle and drove off.

He drove them to his Palmetto home, where he held her against her will, the sheriff’s office said.

A short time later, after HCSO notified the Manatee County Sheriff's Office of the ongoing investigation, Jaramillo was stopped leaving his neighborhood with the victim in her vehicle and taken into custody. The victim sustained minor injuries during his arrest.

He was charged with carjacking, kidnapping, battery - domestic violence and installation of a tracking device.

Jaramillo was booked in the Manatee County Jail and is currently awaiting extradition back to Hillsborough County.

"Domestic violence cases involving kidnapping are some of the most dangerous situations we encounter," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "We will do everything we can, including working with other agencies, to protect victims of domestic violence and hold abusers like this one accountable."
