Mayor Buckhorn to Give Address at Glazer Education Breakfast

Nominations are being accepted for outstanding student and teacher, and both will be honored at the breakfast.

From Antonio Hill at the Glazer Children's Museum, 110 W. Gasparilla Plaza:

On March 13, the Glazer Children’s Museum will host the inaugural "Education is Key" Breakfast to honor individuals making a difference in education. Nominations will be accepted from the public in two categories; Outstanding Student and Outstanding Teacher.  The winners will receive two tickets to the breakfast, a $250 gift certificate, and a commemorative plaque.

The event, hosted by Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandra Murman and keynoted by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, will honor the award winners, as well as share the accomplishments of the Museum’s School Relations Program.

Through this program, the Museum’s education staff collaborates with teachers to provide over 27,000 students annually a unique and meaningful learning experience through school field trips. Additionally, as resources allow, the Museum offers complimentary field trips to Title 1 elementary schools, ensuring all students have access to hands-on learning.

“The purpose of the museum is to be a resource for Tampa Bay and to help students and children develop into lifelong learners and leaders,” said museum president and CEO, Al Najjar. “So establishing and hosting this special event that highlights individual accomplishments in education and the Museum’s progress is a natural fit for us. We are excited to have the support of Mayor Buckhorn, Commissioner Murman and the local business community.”
