1. Curtis Reeves says he acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Chad Oulson during an argument over texting inside a movie theater in 2014. Monday, the defense surprised the courtroom by calling the defendant's wife as a witness, who was there when her husband fired one shot, killing moviegoer Chad Oulson. Mrs. Reeves said she doesn’t remember her husband shooting the victim. (Fox 13 Tampa)
2. Powerstories, a non-profit professional theatre in Tampa, has returned to having shows with live audiences for the first time since the pandemic. The theatre is kicking off with a production of “Real Women Have Curves,” a play written by Josefina Lopez. (WFLA)
3. Tampa Bay Beer Week is returning for its 10th year from Saturday, March 5th to Sunday, March 13th with a number of events around the bay. The celebration will open with The Ultimate Brew event on Friday, March 4th, a collaborative beer event. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
4. Metropolitan Ministries is moving forward with plans for a new $14 million Pasco County campus in order to help get families with housing insecurity. The facility will have 24 apartments housed in a three-story building, gym, wellness center, community outreach building, and 10,000 square-foot daycare center. Officials expect the project to be completed by 2023. (Bay News 9)
5. Tom Wolf Co. has created the first modular, drive-thru-only Jimmy John’s restaurant in Polk County's Bartow. The building is made from a repurposed shipping container and only took 161 days to complete. (Business Observer)
