Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:
1. Five graduates of Hillsborough County Public Schools were honored for achieving perfect attendance during their entire academic career, from kindergarten to 12th grade. Each student attended 2,340 consecutive school days, which is 180 days for 13 straight years. (Tampa Patch)
2. A power outage at LEGOLAND Florida temporarily left park visitors stranded on rides on Wednesday afternoon, according to a resort spokesperson. The resort said an incident outside of the park caused the resort to lose power for a brief period. (WFLA)
3. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said two people are dead after a standoff with a barricaded man in a shed Tuesday on the 5600 block of Center Street in Wimauma. The Sheriff's Office said it would not immediately release the name of the deputy who fired the shot because they work undercover. (ABC Action News)
4. The Tampa Bay Rodeo and Family Festival is headed back to the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16. Guests can enjoy bull riding, bronco busting and barrel racing, as well as a festival full of delicious food and games for the family. (Osprey Observer)
5. Today, Tampa chefs and restaurateurs will finally find out whether they have received a Michelin star. This is the first time the guide will include Florida and only Tampa, Orlando, and Miami will be included in the guide. The winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. at an event in Orlando. - Local bicycle riding advocates say 2022 is off to a deadly start in Hillsborough County. According to Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles data, between January 1 and May 8 of 2022, eight cyclists have died along roadways across the county. (ABC Action News)
- The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council will host the Resilient Ready Tampa Bay Symposium on June 23 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Tampa River Center.
