Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Tampa Crash

A Thursday night crash on Hillsborough Avenue sent a Tampa motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.

TAMPA, FL — A 27-year-old Tampa man was cited Thursday night after a crash on Hillsborough Avenue sent three people to the hospital, including a motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Frank Leto III was stopped facing west in the left turn lane on Hillsborough Avenue at Halifax Drive around 8 p.m. April 20. At that time, a Honda driven by John James Reppert, 29, of Tampa was heading east in the center lane on Hillsborough Avenue at the intersection with Halifax.

Troopers say Leto turned his Nissan Xterra left into Reppert’s path, resulting in a crash.

Reppert, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike, a highway patrol report said. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Leto was not injured in the crash, but his two passengers were. Martha Marie Miler, 28, of Tampa and a 1-year-old girl were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers cited Leto for making an improper turn, the report said.
