New Beer, Thief Without Shoes, Odd Holiday

One thing to consider as you start your day: Should Tampa be more like Savannah?

Happy Wednesday! We compiled a few things to get your day started. It's going to be another warm day in Tampa, so perhaps you'll want to cool off with a cold beer, discuss what could make Tampa better, check out a video, buy a green bench and tell your Father-In-Law how cool he is? Why would you do that? Well, keep reading.

Once Impossible to Find Beer Now Available

This might have been a bigger deal to beer fans a few years ago, but New Belgium beers are now available in Tampa. That includes the once highly sought after Fat Tire Amber Ale. Many local bars are running promotions to welcome the new brews, including Paddywagon Irish Pub who posted that they expected to get the beers in last night. Even with the great brews available from local spots like Cigar City, lots of people may be thrilled to be able to get their hands on some Fat Tire without having to go on vacation.

Should Tampa Be Like Savannah?

Savannah, Ga., has some great spots to eat, drink and be merry all along their riverfront. In fact, you can even get your beer “to go.” Tampa Tribune columnist Joe Henderson just returned from vacation in Savannah and writes that Tampa should look to that city for inspiration. What do you think?

Now That’s A Messed Up Crime

A home surveillance video shows a woman just walking up to car in someone’s driveway, opening the door and looking for stuff to steal, according to authorities.

This is a must-watch video. It can help you realize how important it is to keep your doors locked, even in your driveway. Plus, even though the video is from Valrico, perhaps you recognize the people in the video. If you do, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office would love to hear from you. And, as one reader points out, it looks like this lady poking around in the car isn't wearing any shoes. Only in Florida.

Where Did St. Pete's Green Benches Go?

The city of St. Petersburg was once known for its famous green benches that lined the sidewalks downtown and served as popular hangout spots for natives and tourists. Although they were all removed back in 1969, a local craftsman started making replicas that can be found all around Tampa Bay including at Busch Gardens, Tropicana Field and the Florida Aquarium. Read more about the man behind the replicas and find out how you can get your own.

Better Run To Hallmark, Or Not

Today is national Father-In-Law Day. While it may not be a shock that there isn't much of a push for this particular holiday, there’s probably a card and a keepsake bottle opener out there somewhere. Although a quick internet search only turned up this rundown of ideas for celebrating, not any themed gifts. Go ahead wish him Happy Father-In-Law Day. He probably has no idea it exists, so the look on his face might be worth it.
