TAMPA, FL — A New Jersey man recently pleaded guilty to the 2023 robbery of a postal mail carrier in Florida and receipt, possession or concealment of stolen property of the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.

Tajmir Wyles, 31, faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

Wyles robbed a postal letter carrier, stealing his master keys while he was delivering mail at a shopping center on May 15, 2023, the DOJ said.

They got into a fight over the keys and Wyles was able to leave the scene with them.

He was arrested in Dallas, Texas, in July 2023. At the time of his arrest, he was found with a binder of checks stolen from Florida, as well as the master keys, the department said.

Though the DOJ news release didn’t name exactly where the robbery happened, the case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service in Tampa and in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as the Tampa Police Department and the Dallas Police Department.
