Nursing Home Employee Accused Of Shooting Co-Worker In Tampa: Sheriff

A 46-year-old nursing assistant was charged with attempted murder after being accused of shooting a 20-year-old co-worker, says sheriff.

TAMPA, FL — A 46-year-old certified nursing assistant was arrested and charged with attempted murder on Thursday after being accused of shooting a 20-year-old male co-worker at The Bristol at Tampa Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 1818 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office arrested Felicia Johnson McGee of Temple Terrace after deputies were called to the nursing home to investigate a shooting at 9:16 a.m.

According to the sheriff's office, McGee and the 20-year-old man had worked together at the nursing center for less than two months when they got into a verbal argument.

The co-workers left the nursing center and continued their argument in the parking lot. It was then that detectives said McGee pulled a gun and shot the 20-year-old in the arm.

"I'm disheartened to learn of this unwarranted violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This is not just a violation of the law; it's a violation of our most basic human values. My heart goes out to the victim, Bristol employees and families with loved ones there."

The 20-year-old was treated at Tampa General Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

McGee has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree with a firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly firearm.

She was released from the Orient Road Jail on a $25,000 bond.
