Here are the top stories today in Tampa:

  1. Ousted Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren has filed an appeal against a legal ruling in his firing by Gov. Ron DeSantis, as the lengthy battle continues between the two elected officials. A judge ruled in favor of Warren and claimed DeSantis broke the law by removing Warren from office, but said the federal courts lacked the jurisdiction to reinstate Warren to office. The appeal comes after DeSantis refused to reinstate Warren to office after the ruling. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times, Free: ABC Action News)
  2. Two new food concepts are opening this week at Water Street Tampa in downtown Tampa. They include Small Giant, a new restaurant concept, and Wine on Water, a new wine and spirits shop. Wine on Water opens today, Feb. 15, while Small Giant is holding its opening on Friday, Feb. 17. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
  3. Chicken Boss, a new concept from the same group behind Bacon Boss, is coming soon to Wesley Chapel. Bacon Boss started off as a food truck before opening at KRATE at the Grove in Wesley Chapel last year. No official opening date has been provided. (That's So Tampa)
  4. Rosati's Pizza in Valrico is under new ownership with a fourth-generation member of the Rosati family now running the popular Chicago-style pizza concept in Valrico. Rosati's Pizza first opened in Chicago in 1964. The Valrico outpost is located at 3437 Lithia Pinecrest Road. (Osprey Observer)
  5. The Hillsborough County School Board is skeptical of a plan by Hillsborough County Public Schools Superintendent Addison Davis to redraw district school boundaries, amid outcry from parents and property owners about the move. Board members want more data and clarity on the plan before proceeding. The plan has drawn criticism from its inception by parents and comes after voters failed to advance additional funding for the school district. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)
