Pasco Deputies Say Woman Threatened To Sue After Hurting Her Back While Stealing Cement Blocks

A 54-year-old Hudson woman claims she hurt her back while, deputies say, she was stealing cement blocks from a Port Richey home on Sunday.

PORT RICHEY, FL - A 54-year-old Hudson woman claims she hurt her back while, deputies say, she was stealing cement pavers from a Port Richey home on Sunday, according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Now, she is threatening to sue the homeowner.

Julie Ann Upright was arrested about 5 p.m. Sunday on Woodbridge Court when deputies found 42 cement decorative blocks in her vehicle. The blocks cost about $10 each or a total of $420, the homeowner said.

The homeowner said he arrived home to see Upright taking the blocks that were part of a remodeling project. The blocks were stored about 4 feet from the roadway in the homeowner's front yard.

Upright said she thought the cement blocks were trash. Deputies found the blocks in the front seat, rear seat and truck area of Upright’s vehicle, the arrest report said. Deputies said she told them she may sue the homeowner because she hurt her back while loading the blocks into her vehicle, the arrest report said.

Upright was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center and charged with theft of less than $5,000.
