A $50 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Gabby Petito against Moab City, Utah, police officers is nothing more than “a publicity stunt,” an attorney for the officers said. Rather, "Brian Laundrie, her murderer," is to blame, attorney Mitchell Stephens said.
Imposters Pretend To Be Police Lieutenant In Scam
In a new scam, imposters are calling residents pretending to be a lieutenant or other senior officers with a police department. The callers ask their victims to send gift cards or money because they have an outstanding warrant or traffic ticket. The scammers also ask for credit or debit card numbers, banking information, and social security numbers.

Black Bear Attempts To Poach Pet Pig From Yard
This was no Yogi attempting to steal a picnic basket. Sheriff's deputies were called to a home Tuesday after a Florida black bear attempted to steal a woman's pet pig from her yard. A woman reported that the bear had broken through her vinyl fence and attempted to grab her pet pig.
Wild Monkey Sightings Reported In Central FL City
Wild rhesus macaques monkey sightings are being reported throughout Orange City, officials said. Officers have recently received multiple calls from residents who have spotted the primate, police wrote in a Facebook post.
Baby Dolphin Dead After FL Man Picked It Up For Photo: Reports
A baby dolphin may have died after a man in Florida picked it up for a controversial social media photo, according to multiple reports. The photo, first reported by News4Jax in Jacksonville, was taken by a 19-year-old man who told the station he was fishing with friends in Nassau Sound when he spotted a juvenile bottlenose dolphin in the surf.

In the wake of increasingly desperate and angry Florida homeowners facing a hurricane season with no property insurance, Florida Senate Democrats called a meeting to discuss solutions to the state's property insurance crisis. Insurers are either pulling out of Florida or refusing to write any more policies in the state, resulting in suddenly-uninsured property owners flocking to Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state-run property insurer of last resort.
