Here are the top five stories in Tampa today:
1. A Port Richey man, Michael Seitz, is accused of using food delivery app DoorDash to stalk his ex-girlfriend before showing up at a home she was staying at, and allegedly caused $1,000 in damage, according to an affidavit. (WFLA)
2. Proper House Group and Chef Ferrell Alvarez are opening a new Italian-inspired restaurant in Water Street Tampa called Ash. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week with plans to add brunch at a later time. It has a spring 2023 opening planned. (That's So Tampa)
3. The National Indoor Soccer League (NISL) announced its newest expansion team will be named Tampa Bay Strikers. It will feature both a men's team and a women's team and will kick off the 20-game debut season in December. Home games will be played at the Yuengling Center. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
4. WWE Global Ambassador Thaddeus Bullard, also known as Titus O'Neil, will host Bullard Family Foundation's Back-To-School Bash at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, August 6, according to a news release. Guests who attend can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, register for free medical, dental and vision services, as well as get complimentary haircuts, food and entertainment. (WTSP)
5. USF student Rio Tate was recently chosen to be a 2022 Pat Tillman Scholar. The designation recognizes people connected to the military performing research to make the world a better place and supports their research. - Firefighters across Pinellas County put out a fire at TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Pete Beach early Tuesday morning that left some guests at the hotel displaced. The fire was caused by an air-conditioning unit, according to authorities. (ABC Action News)
- Litter Skimmer made its Tampa debut on Saturday morning with a champagne toast. The boat will collect garbage and debris on Sparkman Channel all the way up the Hillsborough River to Armature Works. (WTSP)
- Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band will kick off their next world tour in Tampa next year on February 1. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
- Tampa-based Caspers Company announced Monday it plans to sell all of its McDonald’s locations and franchises on October 1, according to a release. Caspers has owned McDonald's around Tampa since 1958. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)
