Prison Time Handed Down To Tampa Career Offender For Drug Trafficking
The FBI said Derek Wallace showed up to a transaction with a confidential informant carrying fentanyl and methamphetamine.
TAMPA, FL — U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew has sentenced career offender Derek Wallace, 46, Tampa, to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. Wallace pleaded guilty on Nov. 29.
According to court documents, on Jan. 5, Wallace arranged a drug transaction with a confidential source. Officers arrested Wallace when he arrived at the transaction location with fentanyl and methamphetamine in his possession. An additional 45 grams of fentanyl and 234 grams of methamphetamine were found at his home. Wallace was on probation at the time.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
