Tampa police detectives are seeking the community's help to find the robber who shot a dachshund while attempting to rob the dog's owner.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police detectives are seeking the community's help to find the robber who shot a dachshund while attempting to rob the dog's owner Friday.
A police artist has generated a sketch based on the description on a description of the robber, who was wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants and was armed with a handgun when he was last seen running east on West Powhatan Avenue.
Detectives are working to develop additional leads in this case.

Investigators are asking the community to review their own security footage and share anything they feel may help in the case.
Just before 7 p.m. Friday, a man was walking his two dogs in the 2600 block of West Powhatan Avenue when an armed robber came up behind him, pointed a gun and demanded money.
According to Tampa police, the dogs became agitated and were moving around when the robber shot at them multiple times, hitting one of the dogs, which later died at an emergency veterinarian's office.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the rendered sketch, or who may have additional information that could help detectives is asked to contact Tampa police by calling 813-231-6130, downloading the TampaPD app or sending a tip through TIP411.
