Sweet! Sprinkles’ Cupcake ATM Opens for Business in Tampa

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents who have been patiently waiting for Sprinkles to roll out its signature “Cupcake ATM” have reason to celebrate. The Tampa location has officially unveiled the machine that will enable folks to get a sugar fix around the clock.

Sprinkles opened the doors to its Hyde Park location back in April. Though the 717 S. Dakota Ave. store began serving up fresh-baked cupcakes right away, there were some delays in launching the Cupcake ATM. The obstacles that stood in the way, however, were cleared with the sweet feature making its debut Thursday morning.

Sprinkles opened its first location in Beverly Hills, Calif., in March 2012 and has since expanded across the country. The April opening of the Tampa location marked a Florida first for the chain.

Prior to the April opening, Sprinkles’ founder and “Cupcake Wars” judge Candace Nelson said she was “thrilled” to add Tampa to the company’s growing service area.

The Cupcake ATM s a special vending machine that dispenses cupcakes 24 hours a day. It can hold up to 400 cupcakes at a time and is restocked throughout the day to ensure freshness, company officials say.

Sprinkles switches up its cupcake flavors based on a changing menu with different selections provided based on the day of the week. A few mainstay flavors are always on the menu, too. Flavors include banana, cinnamon sugar, Cuban coffee, lemon, milk chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter chip and more. To check out the full menu and pricing, visit Sprinkles online.

In addition to cupcakes, Sprinkles serves up homemade cookies and ice cream, as well. Regular store hours in Tampa are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The shop does close for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sprinkles also has a location in Disney Springs.
