NAPLES, FL — A Southwest Florida taco chain will expand further north in the state.

HMC Hospitality Group, the founders of the Hooters concept, has signed a licensing deal with the Naples-based Tacos & Tequila Cantina to open locations in Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, as well as The Villages, according to a news release. HMC is looking for sites in these areas.

Tacos & Tequila Cantina, founded in 2013 by Kelly and Aldo Musico, currently has four locations — three in Naples and one in Estero.

The brand prides itself on its chef-inspired menu, which offers “unconventional Tex-Mex cuisines and specialty drinks with an Americana flair,” the news release said. It’s also known for using fresh, local ingredients, authentic tortillas and top-shelf liquors.

“I am incredibly excited to enter into this new partnership with the Original Hooters family. As we have new locations planned for Southwest Florida in the next 18 months, expanding Tacos & Tequila to the Tampa Bay area and Central Florida makes perfect sense,” Kelly Musico said. “They share our passion for hospitality and community and believe in our brand. Our hope is together we can grow this concept in Florida and beyond.”
