FL-Based Grocery Chain Plans Store In New District Under Construction
A boutique, high-end grocery chain based in Tampa is planning a new store in the Gasworx District, which is under development.

TAMPA, FL — Duckweed Urban Grocery, a Tampa-based boutique grocery store, announced an upcoming new location at La Unión Residence & Social Hall in Ybor City’s Gasworx district, according to a news release.
The store will offer residents fresh produce, local goods, high-end and imported products, and grab-and-go meals.
The grocery store will be located next to Gasworx’s upcoming multifamily community, which is under construction and expected to be completed by fall 2026.

“Duckweed represents a key piece of the larger vision for Gasworx, a place where urban living feels effortless and connected,” Graham Tyrrell, managing director in Florida for KETTLER. “This isn’t just a store; it’s a cornerstone for the community, reflecting the vibrant, walkable, and convenient lifestyle we’ve always envisioned for Gasworx.”
Duckweed Urban Grocery is known for its curated selection of fresh produce, pantry staples and quick meals, the news release said. The store reflects Tampa Bay’s cultural heritage and features local flavors, unique finds and artisan goods, along with regional wines, beers and cheeses.

Duckweed is planning a late 2025 opening, marking the company’s sixth location in the Tampa Bay area.
La Unión is the first completed residential development in Gasworx, a 50-acre revitalization project led by KETTLER and local developer Darryl Shaw with partner PPF Group.
Work is also progressing elsewhere in the district, including two additional multifamily communities, a central marketplace and a new office tower.
