Steamy, Stormy Weekend Forecast For Tampa Bay

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area in the weather department this weekend.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents and visitors with big outdoor plans this weekend may find a mixed bag in the weather department. According to the National Weather Service, highs in the 90s are expected to linger over the next few days while daily storms are also in the cards. The timing of those storms, however, may shift from day to day.

Forecasters say Friday should kick things off with partly sunny skies and a high in the low 90s. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to move into the picture mainly after noon. The heat index value could climb to about 101 degrees in parts of the region, so those storms could be a welcomed relief.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected to continue into the evening hours Friday. Skies should dry out later in the night though with mostly cloudy conditions and a low in the upper 70s expected.

Saturday is expected to bring a stronger chance for storms earlier in the day. The weather service says storms are expected to roll in after 9 a.m., but they won’t keep the heat at bay. The day’s high is forecast to climb into the mid-90s. Rain is also possible heading into the overnight hours when the low will again drop into the upper 70s. Storms are expected to move out after 9 p.m. with mostly cloudy skies remaining in their place.

Sunday should kick off with partly sunny conditions and a high around 92 degrees. Storm chances move into the cards in the afternoon hours and are expected to stick around into the evening. The overnight low Sunday is forecast to drop into the upper 70s yet again.

While organized, severe weather isn’t in the forecast, the weather service warns daily storms that develop will have the potential to deliver strong winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Monday is anticipated to kick off the workweek with storms after 9 a.m. and a high once again in the low 90s.
