Tampa Bay Sun FC Hold Press Conference Ahead Of USL Championship Game

TAMPA, FL - The Tampa Bay Sun FC will host the USL Super Final vs. Fort Lauderdale United FC on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Sun are Tampa's first women's soccer professional club and are in their first season of playing.

The team held a press conference on Friday afternoon at their Training Facility in Ybor City to share the energy and strategy around their championship fight against Fort Lauderdale United FC with Head Coach Denise Schilte-Brown, Sun Team Captain Jordyn Listro, and Forward Sydny Nasello.

Tampa Bay Sun FC Head Coach Denise Schilte-Brown shared, "There's not enough words to really describe how it means and to really put all the feelings you know out there, but this has been a lot of hard work and these two young ladies and all their teammates have worked so hard from day one and the ownership got on top of this early...I feel like this is where we're meant to be and the work is earned, but for the City of Tampa Bay this is historical."

She continued, "For little girls everywhere this is a dream come true, this is what we all wanted growing up. I never had this and I feel blessed to be a part of it now, but when I watch the players walk out with those little girl and I see them looking up to them...it's a moment we should capture forever."

Discussing the challenges along the way, Forward Sydny Nasello said: "There was definitely a lot of adversity we had to face in the first half of the season. I do want to point out that never in that locker room did I feel like anyone had a doubt that we would not be here in this moment, in this weekend. So everyone just kind of bought into that process.

She added, "I know that a year ago we set that goal to be in that championship match. Now we get to, you know, accomplish that goal together. It's something super exciting in knowing that we all worked for it and had the same end goal."

On the topic of preparation for the championship, Coach Schilte-Brown said, "It's important to keep your routines....When you get out there, you're going to hold nothing back. They can always give ten percent more than they have already given."

"You're going to see an awesome team out there with consistency they've done before, but at another level because everything's on the line."
