Tampa Bay Weather: Mostly Sunny, But Flooding Concerns Remain

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area in the weather department as the week continues.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay residents hoping for a mild week in the weather department after Hurricane Irma turned things upside down are mostly in luck. According to the National Weather Service, the region is in for a mostly sunny week ahead, but flooding concerns do remain in some areas.

In its Hazardous Weather Outlook report issued Monday, the weather service warned that several rivers in the region “remain in moderate to major flood stage.” While drier weather over the past few days has produced some improvements, the need for vigilance hasn’t gone away. “Residents living along rivers or faster-flowing streams should remain aware of water levels and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding occur,” forecasters warned.

Fortunately, that drier weather service forecasters mentioned is expected to continue for the next few days. Monday is anticipated to kick the workweek off with mostly sunny conditions and a high near 90 in much of the region. Isolated showers are possible in some parts of Tampa Bay, but widespread storms are not expected. Overnight conditions Monday are anticipated to be partly cloudy with a low in the mid-70s forecast.

Monday’s mostly dry, sunny conditions are expected to stick around through Thursday, forecasters noted. Daily highs are expected to reach the low 90s with overnight lows in the mid-70s. Significant rain chances are not in the forecast through Thursday, but that doesn’t mean isolated showers won’t occur in some parts of the Bay area.
