1. The City of Tampa will celebrate its 135th birthday during Archives Awareness Week from July 10 to 16 with exhibits and programs at local archives. The city's 135th birthday is Friday, July 15. (Tampa Patch)
2. A second lawsuit has been filed against Sarasota ice cream company, Big Olaf Creamery, that health officials have connected to a multistate listeria outbreak. The lawsuit claims Kristen Hopkins suffered a miscarriage after a listeria infection at Beverly’s Ice Cream, which exclusively carries Big Olaf Creamery ice cream. (ABC Action News)
3. Steve Michelini has filed a defamation suit against John Godwin, who ran unsuccessfully against Charlie Miranda for a Tampa city council seat in 2019. The lawsuit is tied to the legal search for the person or people behind the "James Reed" Facebook account that attacked Michelini, the mayor and others. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)
4. An arrest has been made in the death of a 14-year-old girl. Ronny Walker, 44, is charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the May 6 homicide of Nilexia B. Alexander of Temple Terrace. (Tampa Patch)
5. The Midtown Tampa location of Walk-On's, which opened recently on June 20, set a record for the highest opening-day sales out of the concept's 65 locations. Walk-On's also has local locations in Wesley Chapel and Lakeland with more locations now potentially in the works. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Business Journal)

- Toxic blue-green algae, which is harmful to pets, has been detected in the waters in and around Maximo Park in St. Petersburg, according to the health department. Blue-green algae can kill pets in just minutes. (WFLA)
- A.O.K. Family Fun Center is now open in downtown Zephyrhills. Guests can enjoy axe throwing, arcade games, and TVs to watch sports. The owner wanted a safe place for kids to hangout and is planning a "Back-to-School Bash" on August 7. (ABC Action News)
- The Back-2-School Coalition of Hillsborough County is hosting events in July and August to ensure kids are ready to enroll in school for the new year. (Bay News 9)
- Cubans in Tampa Bay are planning to mark the anniversary of the 2021 Cuban Freedom March protests on Sunday at the corner of North Dale Mabry and West Columbus Drive starting at 3 p.m. La Casa Cuba de Tampa is hosting the event. (Bay News 9)
